An Interview with Eliket

Once upon a time I brought you an interview with your friendly neighbourhood spool and today I get to bring you another. These blog posts are pretty much Aaron interviews every week but if you have questions for other people make sure to leave it in the comments below.

Eliket a.k.a Paula is one of the artists here at Ninja Kiwi and despite several grave warnings* she has agreed to answer a few questions about herself and her work at Ninja Kiwi.

What does Eliket mean?

It doesn't actually mean anything! I just wanted to create a unique name a few years back that no one else was using, and felt that this combination of letters worked quite well together.

What do you do here?

I'm a Games Artist. Drawing, 3D modelling, texturing and animation are all part of the job!

Do you prefer to draw on paper or on computer?

These days I mostly draw on computer, as it's much easier to keep all your files in order, more forgiving (and less expensive!) if you make a mistake. But I do have boxes full of my old drawings (taking up all the space in my wardrobe :/ ) from when I was a paper-only kind of artist.

What NK games have you worked on?

SAS 4 is the first game that I've worked on at Ninja Kiwi. I am currently working on some other games that are super secret at this stage. :)

What did/do you want to be when you grow up?

Originally when I was about 5, I wanted to be a fire-fighter. But once I realised that you actually had to fight the fires, and not just drive the fire truck around I soon changed my mind.

A few years on, I discovered the PlayStation and video games. Once I realised that people were actually able to make games for a living, I decided that that was what I wanted to do!

What sort of games are the best sort of games?

It really depends what mood I'm in! Sometimes I love running around games with awesome looking worlds just to explore, or play through an amazing story line (e.g. Skyrim, Last of Us, Uncharted), and other times crazy fast-paced arcade style games are the best thing to blow off steam after a long day.

What's your favourite game right now?

At the moment it's probably got to be Hearthstone. I'm still not super great at it, but it's so easy to pick up the basics and it can be so addictive. Such a good feeling when you defeat someone after you were expecting a loss!

Favourite game ever?

Ooh, it's always tough to pick an all time favourite game, but it would probably have to be 'Journey'.
It's such a beautifully crafted game and has such an interesting way of incorporating co-op that it's got to be my first choice.

Favourite lunch-time meal?

You cannot go wrong with a chicken and cranberry filo. Mmmm...

Favourite NK game?

Personally, I'm still a big fan of BTD5. Even after spending countless hours playing on my phone, I still have a good ol' play even now and again. Bloonchipper FTW!

Favourite film?

If it's based off the number of times that I've watched it, then I think it's got to be 'Shaun of the Dead'. Awesome combination of British humour mixed with some killer Zombie gore.

*But not really. Y'all are lovely.
