Given there is so much fanatical interest in the Blog about Bloons Tower Defense 4, I thought it’d be jolly to leak a handful of teaser pics for you all to froth over. You can and I’m sure will ask loads of questions but I won’t answer all of them in the interests of me being a big meanie.

These are by no means all the towers but some I thought would help make things exciting.
In the mean-time you’ll have to go back to BTD3.

Here’s one for all you old schoolers – Wizard Smash: “One wizard’s quest to rid the land of a curse by hitting it in the face”
Controls:
Movement: arrow keys
Swing mace: arrow keys
Mace control mode: z
Jump: x
Exit door: down arrow
Mechanics:
It’s a pretty standard retro platformer, except the player has no attack and is instantly killed when touching an enemy or enemy projectile from any direction. In order to attack, you need to swing the dispel mace into an enemy. This is primarily done by positioning, since the mace is always orbiting freely around the wizard.
The levels are randomly generated on every playthrough, and a simplified AI director is responsible for positioning enemies.
The green bar at the top is your progress through the evil keep, which goes up when you’re going the right way and down when you’ve been forced to backtrack (IE hit an enemy). As it fills up, special enemies become more frequent. When it hits 8 full boxes, there will be a boss battle, but that’s not in there yet 
The red bar is the final boss’ HP. It’s always displayed, since it only goes back up if you’ve been forced to backtrack a lot. Of course this is all speculation at this point
Enemies:
Hench Toast: toaster minions. Will either march back and forth or shoot burnt toast in your direction.
Hatba: Flying hats that swoop around
Lampet: Lamps that hang off the ceiling and shoot lightning
Zombies: Spawn in large groups and march towards the player, jumping over short obstacles.
Monkey air raids: A swarm of winged monkeys flies across the screen. The top and bottom row of walkable tiles are guaranteed to be safe from monkeys.
The wicked witch of the worst: The witch that made the curse! Casting fire magic makes her lower her shield for a few seconds.
This is a difficult and unforgiving platformer with a lot of humor. The game regularly feeds you little gems like “expect to die a lot” and it’s true.

I like the new graphics its different but i like it. However it looks like the track is too squished together. And it almost looks like you cant put towers in the important areas. But i could be wrong. Anyways good luck on the new game and take as much time as you need.

So how does the rubber Bloon work then do you think? Stuff can’t bounce off it right, because then it’s a guaranteed lose isn’t it? We’ve thought of this idea before but can’t imagine a good way around it but open to suggestions…

Chris, when is BTD 4 estimated to come out? Also i think that the art concept is different i dont like it. Its to realistic and well… there nothing realistic about a monkey flying a plane and shoooting darts… but its fun… lol is ur icon like a guy yelling? U SAID ASS UR BAD!! hmmm… btd3 is awesome. Yeah though the art style aint that great i don’t think. i reckon like 2 monkeys with like a mechine post that fires at a faster rate (but not as fast as a super monkey otherwise that is pointless) and you can upgrade it to fire different things… like a bomb, or the tack shooter bullets or some sort of fire thingy..

A way to destroy rubber bloons is to freeze them then quickly hit them with high intensity heat. :p Thats how you can beat a rubber bloon.

I don’t think rubber bloons could be destroyed, but you could probably make a new tower that turns bloons into red, blue, green, yellow, for rubber, rainbows, or below or a tower that seperates bloons into two like a yellow to two blue.

Hi Chris Ive been playing btd forever lol i remember the day i found number 1 i sat infront of my computer for days trying to think up a good strategy to win lol. Any way you asked for suggestions on how to defeat the rubber monkey and the answer is rathers imple and u have already answered it yourself. The last upgrade to the super monkey is Plasma vision and i believe the description reads “Vaporizes everything that it touches”. Im sure u thought of that but incase u didnt im pretty sure rubber falls into the catagory of everything.
On another note cant wait for btd4 and i hope u keep making these games you take the stress out of my day with little fighting monkeys lol

MacMaxx that is probaly the only way to get rid of a rubber bloon. But i dont think i want to buy a super monkey and upgrade to plasma vision everytime i play. if there is a rubber bloon theres got to be multipul ways then that.

I think the striped bloon is a mixture of a bomb-resistant bloon and an ice-resistant bloon.

Come on guys, the grpahics aren’t even too different. All it really has is a textured background, a road instead of a dirt track and the monkeys are more defined.

I would, only we don’t have one. There is still so much work to do. All I can say is it will be finished and released only when we feel it’s ready, which hopefully will be before October 2009.

I think bloons tower defense 3 is the best online game out there. Things id like to see would be.
1. more than 50 lvls, maybe even make the last lvl unbeatable just make it so we can try to get as many points as possible for a high scores kind of thing.
2. Yeh make a point system.
3.Of course more towers and also make freeze towers more usefull cause i have always found money better spent on something else than freeze towers, which it sounds like rubber bloons will fix.
4. a track editor would be kool but not a must have. Did LOVE!!! the lava lvl with 3 tracks into one lane on bt3.
5.Maybe even an achievement system would be kool.
6. Also love your avatar chris.
7.Lastly more tower control cause the monkey catapult i wish i could have just aimed him in one direction where he could shoot. instead id have to last bloon set him so hed shoot in one direction.<yeh i know doesnt make much sense.

i think rubber bloons can only be destroyed by explosions aka the cannon/missle shooter it will make it more challenging for people who think they can get away with just super monkeys with the plasma upgrade btw i loved every btd and cant wait for 4 but dont rush just make it good.

i have an idea for the rubber bloon chris and that is that you only pop it when you have first frozen it. Or freeze then blow up. Or if there is a flamethrower then you can melt it and it leaves a sticky patch on the ground that lasts for like 5 bloons or something. Or it could just melt.

something that would be challenging if when you pop the rubber bloon a moab came out. moabs are fun because of the risk, if it escapes you lose but if you beat it good for you.

Keep up the good work.. I’m really looking forward to BTD4. They just keep getting better and better! (By the way, some sort of fire blasting monkey would just be awesome – and I’ve always wanted a tower that could produce glue! I loved the monkey glue, but never wanted to put a new glue down each time.. this is just what I wanted!)

i think you should do a pac-man tower,and call it Pac-Buddy because a pac-man is in the normal version of Bloons, also a lazer-pointer (light sabor)tower for the same reason. take your time =)

actually the boomerang is very good if you place it in a good spot i place them in the front and put the priority on last and fully upgrade them on the screen shot the monkey at the top looks like a flame thrower but i think it might also be a bannana shooter because theyre monkeys i also see a WW1 fighter pilot i think thats something like the super monkey stormi dont care about waiting 3 months because the graphics are way better too the zebra ballon looks cool
PS: chris i found a clich on btd3 when you can place anything anywhere like say put a super monkey in the middle of the road all you need to do is put the super monkey in a spot that works (doint left click) then right click and then left click in the track

You should make a lightsaber monkey that swings its saber at close bloons. It should have low range, but be very strong. Also it should be able to upgrade to a double sided saber.

i have a few ideas chris,
1. you should have more tracks
2. you should have a super ballon that has 10 browns 10 rainbows 20 blacks and whites 60 yellows 70 greens 80 blues and 100 reds followed by 3 MOAB
3.you should have a boss in the very last level that needs to be hit 750 times before it hits the end or else it’s game over
4.you should make a super MOAB with 3 of the super balloons
5.you should have a survival mode with as much levels as there is in the game plus some secret levels
6.you should have weapons like ultra monkey that is super strong but slow
7.you should have an upgrade for the super monkey that while he has plasma vision you should have in shoot in circles and shoot all over the screen
8.you should really call the game bloons conspiracy instead of bloons tower defence 4

the super moab would be too imposible because just think ud have to destroy 9 moabvs 10 browns 10 rainbows and black and whites and chris you know how you were turning down the rubber baloon well it is almost like the lead onessharp things dont affect it so you could make a specific upgrade that destroys the rubber baloon i hope the glue shooter doesnt cost a lot because i wqant to buy a lot of them please keep the boomerang i use it a lotbecause with out it i couldnt take out the lead ballons yea chris try to fix that glitch i found

Also an idea would be what if we got the “tack shooter” to have a crazy upgrade like it being able to shoot water bloons that explode upon impact that the ones that it hits get popped but the ones that get splashed get slowed down, or they get popped too

Oh that’s a flamethrower lol
ok but maybe the flamethrower is the only thing that can break the rubber bloon because it melts the rubber, then the rubber gets burnt. OH and then it turns into a black balloon. xD There should be an upgrade for the flame thrower to make it have an AoE effect. THat would be awesome, instead of focussing on only one area, it can pop distance similar to the tack shooters.

Anyway, I really would LOVE if you could make your
own track, a customizable Tower, And a Monkey

I think you should do BTD sequels like
GTA… do lots of BTDs and make 1st 2nd 3rd
4th ect while making more but not as good as
the real ones- like GTA vice city stories is just
a worse version of GTA 3 and GTA SA is another,

hey, the game so far looks great, the image you posted a while back looks good, i cbb to scroll up and find the name of the person who said they didnt like it but it would just take some time getting use to it. After all the game is good enough as it is, you shouldnt worry about the game graphics, after all its just a tower defence game… =P anyways it looks great, some of the comments put up were really intresting to read were as some were just annoying xD good luck on the game. What i dislike about the bloons tower defence games is how popular there were, at school everyone was playing it in ict and sometimes you’d catch the teacher playing it, a wee bit sad but then i cant say nothing because i was addicted to the game aswell xD – thanks

BTD is the coolest game and i have an idea for you chris,
Make a really cool level, like a challenge mode level,
a level were u have to beat your highest score
and another couple of levels for other things
like a 2 player level were u can vs other people…
and a main menu, u can choose to do anything u want like

I agree BTD4 Fan rock,
if ur just getting that idea from Galactic Tennis,
but i think a better way of doing that is not different
galaxies but Terrains Like the forrest or
deserts and the rocky mountains,
cause what would a monkey be doing in the middle of the solar system
and the BTD theme is not about being in galaxys and exploring
different planets…
its just good fun,

u should make a rubber bloon because of the rubber tiles in the other games.this would b just like the ceramic bloons in td games because of the brown tiles in the bloons games.also like the lead bloons in the td games r cuz of the silver tiles in all the bloons games. they would be destroyed by using freeze towers cuz u should know that in real life if u FREEZE a RUBBER band it dosent stretch anymore. so it makes cents that it would kill it. from there u could have idk rainbow bloons come out. or a new glass bloon cuz of the rainbow bloons in regular bloons r always in glass boxes to keep them from rising.
by bloons games i mean the regular bloons w/ the monkey that throws darts at the colored bloons.by td games i mean bloons tower dwefence games 1,2,3,and soon to b 4th if that waz confuzing.

Yeh chris I know your picture is the captain from tintin, snowy was such a cool dog. I loved the show when i was a kid and it came on nickelodeon. Although i couldn’t think of his name off the top of my head. Ughhh i can’t wait for bloons tower defense 4. Bt3 is easily the best tower defense game EVER made. No matter how you look at it Bt3 has to be in at least the top 5 BEST EVER free online games. You truly are a gaming genius.

You should be able to melt the rubber balloon with flame tower and cannon. And how about a competetition between two players like first player one places his/her towers and then player two places his/hers. Then when the level ends the game will count how many balloons player one and twopopped and who popped the most will win. Ps thes should be in the same map.

I don’t like the new graphics, but i can live with them, but i dont see how the plane would work
anyway, you should have have towers that can set baloons on fire, slowly destroying them and setting a few others alight
more upgrades
the ability to move towers
new bloons (fire resistant) (dart resistant)
rubber bloons can be destroyed by being frozen and then blown up. They should have nothing else inside them because these will be hard to destroy.
you should also try to somehow make the game not run slowly when there are more bloons if this is possible.
you should also try to make a flipside mode in which you buy bloons, and earn money by getting past certain distances. You could have a worldwide two player mode in which one person controlls the bloons and the course layout (with certain restrictions like minimum distance between two points and minimum tiles used) whilst the other makes the towers.
that would make an ideal game for me!

Hey chris, the graphics look great and everything but what bout running it because on btd3 wen u get to many ballons on screen the game gets slow and the towers seem incapable of fireing at a steady rate. so will the new graphics effect this further or have u worked on running smoother.
also if its not to much trouble could u send me an email of some of the new features in btd4, super stoked about it hope this ones as good as 3

BTD games rule and if u do use rubber bloons, rubber bloons should sick to other if it was hit by cannon once then hit aging it turns in to monkey glue with 5 times to be run over

Big props on BTD 3… had a thought… after anyone completes level 50, on easy, have a bigger “credit” to start the track on medium…
Another thought… The flying monkeys to clear a screen… what about a teleporter Super Monkey… 3 spots on a screen for one super monkey to move to…

Except for the undecided release date everything sounds great! I think that the lightsaber is an upgrade of the boomarang monkey. I can’t even imagine what the zebra vloon will do! The monkey in the plane looks promising and I think it will be the first moving tower(if that makes sense). Love the graphics!

First , u did u pretty nice job on bloons TD 1, 2 and 3.
I’m verry curious about how part4 will really fully be.
i do have 3 questions tho:
1) Did u manage to make the games less ‘laggy’ when lots of towers and bloons are in the screen ?
2) Is there a possibility that you add some sort of leveleditor in it, so the cummunity can make more maps when we finished playing ?
3) is it possible to make a ranking page , with automatic screenshots ?

On the Very Last level you shuld have a Mega Moab which has a breakable wall around it so first you have to break the wall, then destroy the Moab whic is lurking inside!

chris can you please fix 2 things w/ the bloons td game.
1.stop the bloons from going slower(lagging)

In BTD3 could you make a lottery tower that changes bloons into a different sort. If so give it upgrades that raise the chance of the bloons turning into weaker bloons. Keep up the good work!!

Those are pink bloons. They hold yellows inside them. The real red bloons are tiny, you can see them in the other screenshots.

you should be able to take different paths of upgrading. For example, a tower could upgrade into a weak, but fast shooting on, or a slow powerful one

invisible bloons that are kinda like camo bloons except can only be seen when glued.or mayb frozen.
there should b a bloon that has little legs, and wings, and is faster than a pink bloons.

Why not just make it so the towers break every now and then and cost a great deal of money (as much as it cost to build the tower + the cost of every installed upgrade) to fix it? Until it gets fixed, it doesn’t pop balloons. I think that would add a nice layer of challenge to the game. BTD4 is fun, but I can squeeze a ton of Banana Research Facilities onto the screen and the Wizard Monkeys maxed out on their upgrades (so totally badass!) that the game kinda stops being fun. If my kids weren’t constantly closing windows on me, I could have beaten level 100 without batting an eyelash.
Love the new tracks and towers and upgrades, but I still think 3 was the best one so far.

well it the best game will be live to long because it have so much to give to us “fan of tower defense games” i like this game and want it to be my favorite game because it awesome but !!?
i need to be with this game always and love to play it every where but i can’t take my laptop to school but small handled will work like psp or nds you know what nintendo have cool control system but it don’t have a good cpu or picture drive so i think psp will rock with this game and have so much fans i’m sure of that ^_^v

Not November 2010. We started looking loosely at the project and it’s looking like 12+ man months to pull it together. So it’s probably pushing into 2011 although we don’t have a start date yet.

We haved an error at the release date, is telleig that it will be realised in the 26 october but it was been released in the 25 october at 7:00 pm and i have been crazy when i have looked that bloons td 4 was been released when im playing at the computer.

Samuel17, it’s all about time zones. I’m not sure what time zone it is, but for some reason on my computer the next day begins at 7:00 p.m. I’m pretty sure it has to do with time zones and the Internet being a real-time, internationally shared network. Thus, it will be released and the only areas which will get the game at exactly 12:00 a.m. will be the time zone in which the game was uploaded to the site or whatever.
